Passionate About Inspiring Others

Growing up I always heard what it was like to be a teacher. To be able to inspire others the way my mom does has been a goal of mine since second grade.

My name is Ellie Kochuyt, and I am a future teacher. I currently attend Blue Valley Northwest High School as my home school but also attend CAPS (center for advanced professional studies) for the teacher education program. I have already learned so much from this program and hope to change students minds as my future career.

Outside of caps I am on the Varsity soccer team. I have been on Varsity for two years now and as a Senior I consider myself a leader. I strongly believe that younger people (no matter what they look up to you for), rely on elders to learn and grow. I believe that it is important to have a support system when you leave the safety of your house and one day I hope to be that support for so many kids.
I also am involved in a program called helpers inc. This is a company that pairs you up with a disabled child and you get to hang out with them on occasion. I worked with a girl named Sofia and we did daily actives together just like best friends. We went to a school band performance outside where every member dressed up with glow sticks and they danced around the football field playing their instruments! We also go to dinner and get ice cream. These kids love to go fun places and do fun things with their friends just like the rest of us! For me to make such a big impact on someone buy just hanging out with them means so much to me. I hope to change students lives and make the school environment more inviting and fun for them.
